Where to get free doughnuts – National Doughnut Day

Happy National Doughnut Day everyone!  To some of you, this may be your first celebration, while others have been waiting an entire year for the free doughnuts today.

Well, I highly doubt anybody has really been waiting for today, but it is a nice random day that people who love doughnuts can celebrate the great tastes of doughnuts and save some money.

National Doughnut Day surprisingly wasn’t created by one of the doughnut companies to try and sell more products.  It was actually started in 1938 to honor the women who served doughnuts to soldiers during World War II.  The Salvation Army was the group responsible for making this day.

There are a few different doughnut locations offering different doughnut deals for this “holiday”.

Where to get free doughnuts today:

Krispy Kreme

Krispy Kreme created an event page on Facebook to get the word out about National Doughnut Day.  Stop into any Krispy Kreme location today, June 1, and you can get any flavored doughnut for free.  There is no purchase necessary, you just have to show up and ask for your free doughnut.

Dunkin’ Donuts

You still get a free doughnut, but a purchase is necessary to get it.  Buy any Dunkin’ beverage today and you’ll get a free doughnut.  So for those of you that go in for your Dunkin’ Donuts coffee anyways, you might as well come add on your free treat too.

LaMar’s Doughnuts

This is a smaller chain of doughnut shops out of Colorado and throughout the midwest.  They have a big standing throughout the midwest.  Just like Krispy Kreme they are giving away free doughnuts with no strings attached.

Tim Horton’s

Tim Horton’s Facebook page is advertising a free doughnut for National Doughnut Day as well, kind of like Krispy Kreme.  The “big catch” is you have to like their page.  Like their Facebook page and you will get a free doughnut coupon.

Winchell’s Doughnut House is opting out of this day’s celebration for some reason.
