Red Robin Special – New Burger and Bottomless Fries
Red Robin Gourmet Burgers, better known as just Red Robin, originally started in Seattle, Washington in 1940.
The original store was actually a bar and was called Sam’s Tavern, but the name changed because of the owner’s love of one of the songs he sang. Sam sang in a barbershop quartet and one of the songs he sang and loved had the lyrics, “When the Red, Red Robin (Comes Bob, Bob, Bobbin’ Along)”. The lyrics meant so much to him that he removed the Tavern in Sam’s Tavern and made it Sam’s Red Robin.
Soon after Sam’s name was even removed from the title. Sam’s Red Robin was purchased by Gerry Kingen, a local entrepreneur, in 1969. Gerry dropped Sam’s name from the title and dubbed the tavern Red Robin.
Red Robin was a favorite tavern among students at the University of Washington. Kingen decided it might be a good idea to feed these local college students while they were in his Red Robin taverns. He added burgers to the menu and business took off from there.
Delicious burgers have been the base of operations at this chain of casual dining restaurants since that time.
Red Robin continues to grow until the mid 1990’s when they had some financial problems. What helped save them? Well part of it was a great new marketing campaign offering “bottomless steak fries”. Restaurant customers love this deal because you get free refills on fries when you buy a gourmet burger at Red Robin.
Red Robin still continues in the tradition of offering great food at a great price. They have plenty of promotions and Red Robins coupons floating around for their large fan base of customers to use and enjoy.
